Sun Prairie-Robert J. Vinje, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his soneâ¢â¢s home in Madison. He was born on March 4, 1924 in Milwaukee the son of Leslie & Harriette (Conway) Vinje. Bob was united in marriage to Joan Hein on November 16, 1946 in Sun Prairie and they enjoyed over 49 years of marriage until her death on July 26, 1995. He was a resident of Sun Prairie since he was 13 years of age. Bob was a United Starts Marine serving in the South Pacific Theater (Okinawa) during WW II. He was employed with Wisconsin Porcelain Company for over 42 years as a hand presser and foreman retiring in 1987. Bob was an accomplished athlete especially softball where he played on many local teams and was a former catcher and manager for the Sun Prairie Home Talent Baseball team. Fishing and bowling were among his many interests. Bob is survived by his children Jayne (William) Oashgar-Benoy of Madison, Becky (Tom) Juen of Stoddard and Jon (Nancy Odell) Vinje of Madison; grandchildren Brenton & Brian Oashgar, Bradley Juen, Robyn & Mark Vinje; great-grandson Brandon Oashgar; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Audrey Hein; other relatives and friends. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and sister LaVonne. A visitation will be held on Sunday (today) May 2, 2010 from 1-4:00 p.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.. Burial will be held in Sun Prairie Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the charity of choice in Bob's name. The family would like to thank HospiceCare for their wonderful care.
