Wade, Robert Allen
Madison: Robert Allen “Bob” Wade, age 69, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at UW Hospital. He was born April 7, 1953 the son of Edward and Wenola Wade in Syracuse, NY.
Bob was a caring people person who relished his friends and loved film, plays, music, cooking and traveling. He loved to laugh and had a knack for seeing the irony and / or silliness in a variety of situations.
It was a treat to talk with him about films and plays. He saw so much nuance and meaning that could so easily be overlooked. Broadway plays and musicals were his lifeblood. He always managed to get tickets because he knew the ins and outs of how to do that. He seemed to know the ins and outs of a lot of things.
Cooking was another passion. He loved learning to cook new dishes and to gain more insight into cooking from incredibly huge and dense cookbooks. I’m sure he taught many people either how to cook or introduced them to new foods and cooking ideas.
Traveling and having new adventures were his forte. He’s taken trips to France, Germany, England, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Austria and China. There was a memorable cooking class in Italy. Then there was the fantastic trip through China. Seeing sights in Shanghai (Dumplings!), the boat trip on the Yangtze River (Three Gorge Dam), feeding Pandas and cleaning their cages in Chengdu; seeing the Terracotta Warriers in Xi’an and lastly Beijing to see the old city and walk the Great Wall.
Bob loved his life in Wisconsin with his great group of friends. He had a comfortable life in a house he loved, a longed for new car and oh, my, the new kitchen that was perfection! He wished he could have had more time to enjoy it, but at least he attained most if not all his goals.
With family Bob was loving, generous and helpful. He had a good listening ear and would share advice about finance or life’s vagaries. He was “steady as she goes.”
Bob is survived by his two sisters, Patricia Edwards and Wenola Wade, three nieces; Wendy, Jenna, and Joy, a great niece, Cayla, and a great great niece, Millie. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Eddie.
