WAUNAKEE-Robert M. Ziegler, age 68, of Waunakee, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Madison on March 15, 1946, the son of Raymond and Marie (Endres) Ziegler. Bob graduated from Waunakee High School in 1964. He served with the U.S. Army from 1965 until 1971. He married the love of his life Linda (Adler) on October 26, 1968, and was employed by Endres Manufacturing Company for 46 years. Bob was very active in the community with membership in the Waunakee Jaycees, Lions Club, FFA Alumni, and Rotary. He was one of the original founding members of the Waunakee Soccer Club and was instrumental in getting boys and girls soccer into Waunakee High School. Bob was a proud member of the Waunakee Fire Department for 32 years. He enjoyed golf, boating at their lake home, all Badger sports, hunting, and volunteering at St. John's school and church where he was a member. Most importantly, Bob loved being a grandfather and watching all of the sports in which his grandchildren were involved. He took great pride in being part of the Rotary Christmas Light display each year and hosting an annual 4th of July party at his lake home for his classmates and friends.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Brian (Laura) and Brad (Jessica); daughter, Brenda (Erik) Hayko; grandchildren, Daniel and Anthony Ziegler, Gabriella and Maya Ziegler, and Cameron Hayko; his mother, Marie; brother and sisters, Larry Ziegler, Annette (Kevin) Bollig, and Beth (Chuck) Cleary; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Adler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan (Pat) Adler, Butch (Cookie) Adler, David (Kim) Adler, Tom Adler, Jane (Gary) Itten, Marie Adler, and Mary (Bruce) Heise; as well as many friends both close and far. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; father-in-law, Jerome Adler; brothers-in-law, Mark and Jerry Adler and Terry Carnes; and close family friend, Celeste Laufenberg.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church 209 South St Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Sunday Aug. 10, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Mon. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery with full military honors.
