Rockwell I. Schulz, age 82, died peacefully at home on Jan.10, 2012.
Born in Milwaukee, he graduated from Lawrence University then received a Masters in Hospital Administration from Univ. of Minnesota. He was a Hospital Administrator before joining Booz Allen Hamilton consulting firm. He was next appointed Associate Dean at Tulane Univ. then Univ. of Texas Medical Schools before coming to Madison in 1969 where he received a Ph.D. from the U.W. In 1972 he initiated and directed the Programs in Health Service Administration within the U.W Madison Medical School. Throughout his U.W. career he combined his teaching with international research in comparative health care management. He retired in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Clare. Children, Rockwell (Lisa Dockery), Michael, Kerry (John Iskikian) and David. Grandchildren, Rockwell Schulz, Christiana and Spencer Iskikian. Sister, Carolyn Haumersen, brother, Tom Schulz, and their families. Step-children, Peter, Becky and Anna Learmonth and their families.
A celebration of Rockwell's life will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 1pm at the Madison Club, 5 East Wilson Street, Madison. Refreshments and time to greet the family will follow the service.
