MADISON- Rodney James Bruner, age 78, passed away on March 2, 2009, after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 29, 1930, in Primgar, Iowa, the son of Ross and Edna Bruner. After graduating from high school in 1948, he became associated with the American Fidelity Insurance Company of Richmond, VA. He remained with the company for 18 years as a branch claims manager. From 1967 until the time of his death, Rodney was active in real estate, construction, and property management. He married Annette Shomberg in 1972. Rodney is survived by his wife, Annette of Madison; two sons, Kevin (Marne`) of Wausau and Bradford (Diane) of Hayward; three daughters: Debbie Hellenbrand of Madison, Janeane (Jerry) Brockman of Columbia, MO and Janelle Jacobson, Las Vegas, NV; a step-son, Forest Shomberg. Rodney is also survived by two brothers, Ivan (Gini) Bruner of Madison and Donald (Vera) Bruner of Norfolk, NE; and one sister, Phyllis Zeiman of Lake Mills. Rodney has six grandchildren: Cole, Kailey, Collin and Tessandra Bruner of Wausau, Shelby Brockman of Columbia, MO and Danielle Hellenbrand of Hilton Head, NC. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2009, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with a visitation starting at 12 noon. Following the service a gathering will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Middleton Sport Bowl, 6815 University Avenue in Middleton.
