Rodney Spangler

Stoughton- Rodney C. Spangler, age 83, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Milestone Senior Living.  He was born in Madison on September 20, 1938, the second oldest of eight children to Leander and Marion Spangler.  Rodney graduated from Stoughton High School in 1956.  On August 5, 1961 Rodney married Phyllis Gander.  Together they enjoyed golfing, biking, and traveling.  Rodney attended Barber school in Milwaukee and worked as a barber for 11 years.  He worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years until his retirement in 2001.  Rodney was a life member of St. Ann Parish in Stoughton where he was a server for Mass as a child, and enjoyed ushering.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis; daughter, Sheila (Tom) Schroeder; son, Greg Spangler; two grandsons, Cole (Leah) and Jack Spangler; great granddaughter, Mari; sisters, Bette (Duane) Busch and Jean Spangler; brothers, David, Thomas (Maren), and Joseph Spangler; brother-in-law, David Bjerke; and many nieces and nephews.  Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Spangler; sister, Karen Bjerke; and sister-in-law, Marlene Spangler.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at St. Ann Catholic Church,323 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with Fr. Randy Budnar officiating.  Burial, with full Military honors, will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at church, following the burial.  Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday at church.  Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, Stoughton Food Pantry, or St. Ann Endowment Fund.  A special thank you to the staff of Milestone Memory Care for taking good care of Rodney.  Please share your memories of Rodney by posting on his Tribute Wall.
