Pardeeville – Rodney J. “Rod” Hellenbrand, age 60, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. He was born on March 2, 1963, in Waunakee, to Jerome and Dorothy (Brockman) Hellenbrand. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1981. On August 27, 2005, Rod married Bonnie Krueger and together with her son, Tyler Wold, they made their home in rural Pardeeville.
Rod’s career varied throughout the years from farm work, carpentry, and driving semis to electrician. Rod was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Labor Union, Local 159. He found he enjoyed electrical work, and he was a very qualified and respected electrician.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, kayaking, and fishing. He was always available to family and friends to help with home and other projects. Rod retired from IBEW in the fall of 2022. His retirement gave him more time to enjoy his hobbies, which included enjoying listening to nature in the country while resting in his hammock with his dog Layla beside him.
Rod is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and son, Tyler Wold, both of Pardeeville, sisters, Carin Wallin of Waunakee, and Jane (Tony) Schwartz of Pardeeville, brothers Rich (Cindy) and Mike (Ruth) both of Waunakee, Dan (Kimberly Weaver) of Parker, Colorado. Brother and sister in laws Ron Krueger of Portage, Betty (Albert) Stoltenburg of Poynette, Beverly (Michael) Carney of Portage, Barbara Davis of Montello, Richard (Pat) Krueger of Portage, Raymond (Becky) Krueger of Portage, Roman (Kelly) Krueger of Portage. Thirteen nieces and nephews and their families, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and some aunts and uncles. Special niece Sharon Krueger. Special Uncle Joseph Petra. Special cousins Walter and Ruth Krueger.
Rod was close to and well-loved by many, but especially by his nieces and nephews. Rod’s family would like to thank close friends Neal and Teri Reible and Bill Wagner for their many years of friendship. Rod also had a special friendship with his neighbors, his fishing buddy Tony and wife Cinda Manicki, and appreciated their kindness.
Visitation will be held at Winn Cress Funeral Home, 5785 County Highway Q, Waunakee December 2 from 10-12. Service at 12. There will be a private family spreading of his ashes at a later date. A Memorial will be designated by the family to Suicide Prevention
