Fitchburg-Roger S. Holt, Jr., 68, passed away on January 8, 2009  He generously donated his time and body fighting cancer, participating in experimental drug trials at UW.  Roger is at peace now with his beloved wife, Mick.  Besides Mick, he was preceded in death by his parents, Roger S. Holt and Esther (Gates) Holt.  He was the big brother to James (Audrey) Holt, Stephen Holt, and Marilyn (Brad Smith) Holt-Smith, step-father to Jeff and Anne.  Born in Madison, Roger traveled the world while in the US Navy and later numerous motorcycle journeys.  Roger was a school bus driver extraordinaire in Milwaukee, Portage and most recently Madison, dedicated to his riders and supported by his extended family of co-workers at First Student.  He was a man of strength, stoic with great depth of character, an eclectic collector, a prolific writer, life long learner and gifted mechanic. A rider of mountain, forest, valley A true spirit of the open road A dreamer, brother, mentor to many Roger guided his buses of gold Gifts can be made to the Cancer Research Fund at UW Carbone Cancer Center or charity of your choice.  A memorial celebration is scheduled for  January 17th, 2009 at HospiceCare Center, 5395 East Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI, starting at 11 am.
