Roger Roy Starkey, age 92, passed away on December 11, 2019, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on May 26, 1927, in Tomah, Wisconsin to Chester and Alys (Murdock) Starkey.
Roger played football for Tomah in high school. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. He was stationed in Germany and worked as an accountant. He was united in marriage to Alice M. Wildes on August 24, 1951, in Sparta, Wisconsin.
Roger had a long career as a cabinetmaker, carpenter, and construction worker. He worked for the Marshall Erdmann Company in Madison and Waunakee from 1957 to 1992, where he served as Foreman of the Door Shop for many years.
Roger and Alice were founding members of Asbury Methodist Church in 1965. Roger coordinated the Men's Breakfast and volunteered to do many carpentry projects for Asbury church over the years.
Roger was also a Mason and was the Master Mason at the Verona Lodge. He was a successful deer hunter for decades. Roger was a lifelong member of the Carpenters' Union. He was also a champion bowler for many years.
Roger is survived by his wife, Alice M. (Wildes) Starkey; his daughter Judy K. (Starkey) Majeski, his son, Steven D. Starkey; daughter Pamela J. (Starkey) Nett, granddaughter Jamie Nett, and son-in-law Michael J. Nett.
Roger was preceded in by his parents, Chester and Alys (Murdock) Starkey, his brother Donald Starkey, his sister Lois (Starkey) Knutson, and brother Bill Starkey.
A memorial service for Roger will held at a later date.
