Ronald James Gallitz, age 76, of the city of Verona, passed away on January 17, 2022 after a long hard battle with Alzheimers. He was born on July 15, 1945 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the son of Laverne and Vera Gallitz. He married Sandra Tracy in 1968, with whom he had two children, Donald Laverne and Dixie Lynne.  He would remarry in 1995 to Peggy Turner and became a full-time parent to her son, Keola Shimooka.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Ron graduated from Appleton East High School and went on to attend Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. He then enlisted in the Navy and attended Officer’s Candidate School.  He would also go on to get his MBA in Naval Post Graduate School. Ron enjoyed a 20-year career in the Navy, became a Vietnam Veteran and was the recipient of a Naval Meritorious Medal. During his Naval career he was able to travel the world and earn the rank of Commander. Ron lived by the creed: work hard, play hard. He was the base racquetball champion in 4 different military tours and loved to play softball.   Upon retirement he went to work for the UW Hospital system in Madison, Wisconsin.  He had come home.

Ron embraced everything about Wisconsin; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, golfer and a lifelong Packer’s fan. If you are reading this, please raise a toast (preferably Miller Lite)  to one of the kindest, caring and loving people we may ever know.

We love you Dad.

Ron is survived by his son, Donald; wife, Rose; daughter, Lynne and her husband, Rob and his stepson, Keola, and his wife, Jayme. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Sydney, Arya, Jack, Adelynne, Zoe, Tia Kaleo, and Ryu; and his sister, LaRhonda Gallitz.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Peggy Ann Gallitz.
