Ronald A. Leikness

February 15, 1939 — September 16, 2024

Stoughton

Stoughton- Ronald Alan Leikness, Sr., age 85, passed away on September 16, 2024 surrounded by family in his home. He was born February 15, 1939, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, the beloved son of Clarence and Anna (Offerdahl) Leikness.

Ron’s life was defined by his commitment and service. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War, a period he looked back on with pride. He worked alongside his father-in-law, Arnold Stai at the County and later became a small business owner, building and operating The Waters Edge in his hometown of Stoughton, WI.

In his younger years, Ron enjoyed fast pitch softball, couples bowling, playing cards with friends, riding his Harley Davison and camping. He was a dedicated fan of the Brewers and NASCAR and took great pride in his hole-in-one at the Evansville Country Club. He was part of the Legion Riders and an active member of the Stoughton VFW. He and Helen enjoyed bird watching and spending time with their family.

Though he may have had a tough exterior, Ron's tender heart was evident to those who knew him well. He lived a full life and accomplished everything he set out to do. Ron will be deeply missed but remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Helen (Stai) Leikness, his high school sweetheart and lifelong companion. He is also survived by his son, Ron Leikness, Jr., his daughters, Pam (John) Klimek and Rachel (Jason) Kleven; his grandchildren, Nick (Jacque) Klimek, Ben (Heather) Leikness, Brad Klimek, Travis Leikness, Anna Kleven and Thomas Kleven; and six great grandchildren. He leaves behind his sister, Mildred Noyce, and his brother, Roger Leikness. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and many siblings.

Military Honors will take place at 1:00PM on September 29, 2024 at the Stoughton VFW Post 329, 200 Veterans Road, with a Celebration of Ron’s life to follow.
