Ronald Wenzel

Waunakee - Ronald Wenzel, age 79, died peacefully Sunday, January 11th, 2015. He was born on February 2nd, 1935 in Freeport, IL to the late Edward and Verna Wenzel. Ron graduated from Shannon High School, where he was the Valedictorian of his class. After graduation, he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Ron moved to Madison, WI after his military service, where he married Wanda Hauser. Ron worked for Consolidated Oil, where he was the district manager. After a wonderful career at Consolidated Oil, he worked at National Guardian Life Insurance Company in Madison for many years. He finally retired after working with the state of Wisconsin.

During retirement, Ron enjoyed spending time with family. He loved cars and working with technology. He also managed The Badger Carwash in Waunakee and enjoyed the many people he met there.

Ron was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and his first wife Wanda.

Survivors include his son, Mike (Roxanne) Wenzel, second wife Phyllis Wenzel, her daughter Staci (Cleven) McChesney and their two children: Molly and Charlie, sister-in-law Faye Wenzel, three nephews, three nieces, and many other relatives and friends.

Family and friends may call at Winn-Cress Funeral Home (5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee, WI 53597) on Thursday, January 15th from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m.

Ron will be laid to rest at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16th at Lanark City Cemetery in Lanark, IL.
