Waunakee - Rosalia E. Buechner, 92, formerly of Martinsville, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Ellen & Peter Johnson Hospice Care Residence, Fitchburg. She was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Middleton, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Laufenberg) Ziegler. She married George Buechner in St. Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton, October 2, 1940. They had a dairy farm on Whippoorwill Rd. near Martinsville. As an active member of St. Martin's Parish, Rosalia supported the women's group activities and sang in the parish choir. Rosalia was known for her baked goods both at home and at parish bake sales. She enjoyed playing cards. Rosalia and George moved from their farm in 1998 to an apartment in Waunakee and to the Waunakee Manor Retirement Center in 2007. George preceded her in death, January 2010. Survivors include her nine children and their families: Robert (Marlys) of Madison, Mark, Mike and Todd; Janet (Milan) Warren of Fish Creek, Steve, Linda and Chris; Helen Buechner of Verona and Gina; John ( Diane) of Middleton, Sherry, Pam and Dan; Louise (Jim) Gregie of Park Ridge, IL, Joel and Neil; Virginia (Glen) Boehlke of Fond du Lac, Kristina and Alyssa; Jim (Chris) of Middleton and George; Dave (Betsy) of Waunakee, Kevin, Megan and Michelle; and Paul (Tami) of Martinsville, Zachary and Kyle. Rosalia is further survived by her sisters Lucille (Jerome, deceased) Wipperfurth; Marion (Edward) Ballweg; and brothers, Leonard (Ruth) Ziegler; Edward (Sharon, deceased) Ziegler; 13 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at the Hospice Inc. Residence in Fitchburg. Visitation on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church (Martinsville), 5959 St. Martin Circle, Cross Plains, WI 53528, Rev Brian Dulli will officiate. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held at St. Martin, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
