Rosalie Ponzio

Marshall WI/ Niagara WI- Rosalie Beth (Burbey) Ponzio, age 62, of Marshall, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 7, 2012, following her courageous battle with breast cancer.

Rose was born Dec. 3, 1949, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Hendricks) Burbey, and was raised in Niagara, WI. She married Robert Ponzio of Niagara, eventually living in Marshall, WI, where they raised their two children. After their divorce, Rose stayed in Marshall, where she lived and loved for 22 years with Dawn Egan. Rose was a wonderful teacher for many years and touched countless lives, both at Sun Prairie (Patrick Marsh) Middle School, and at Poynette Middle School. She will truly be missed by all.

Rose is survived by her partner, Dawn Egan of Marshall; two children, Patrick Ponzio and Nicole Ralph; two children via her partnership, James and Anthony Egan; her father, John Burbey; her two brothers Mark and Brian Burbey; five grandchildren (and one on the way); and other relatives and many friends, including her "adoptive" foreign exchange daughter, Amaia Burmudez. Rose was preceded in death by her mother Marge, and her sister Laura Steeno.

Visitation will be at Cress Funeral Home in Sun Prairie, WI from 4:00 to 6:00 on Thu Feb. 16, with a celebration of life at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used for a memory garden.
