Rose Marie Shafer

Rose Marie Shafer, age 98, passed from this world on August 27, 2023. She was born March 12, 1925 in Darlington, Wisconsin. She was married to Everett (Bud) Shafer on August 4, 1945. Rose worked for Ohmeda (GE) off and on for several years while raising her family until she retired in 1989. She enjoyed connecting with people and sharing stories about life and family. The luncheons with relatives and friends, which produced many laughs and good times, brought great joy to Rose. She was never for a loss of words or conversation.  Anyone that met Rose knew what a kind heart she had and enjoyed her quick wit. Rose was always curious, inquisitive and had a sharp mind until the end.

The time she spent with her grandchildren were invaluable. They were the love of her life. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, especially making clothing, books and crafts for her grandchildren.  

Rose is survived by her children Holly (Todd) Spiczenski, Jill (Jeff) Anderson, her daughter-in-law, Jodi Shafer and her grandchildren, Sarah (Joe) Sarbacker, Kristin (Austin) Wills, Griffin Spiczenski, Corinne (Andrew) Altamira, Michael Anderson, Melissa Anderson, Jessica (Troy) Gorman, Zane and Zoé Shafer and numerous great-grandchildren she adored.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud and her son’s Thomas and Steven.

A memorial service will be held at 11: 00 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m on Friday, September 8^th, 2023 at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Rose’s family would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Progressive Care Unit for their care and compassion they gave her and our family.
