Rosemary Ann Fleischman
Rosemary A. Fleischman, age 90, of McFarland, passed away at Agrace Hospice Care Center on November 29. 2021.
Rosemary was born on March 30, 1931, to Leo and Ann (Tuma) Meyers in La Crosse WI. Rosemary grew up in Lacrosse, graduated from St Thomas Aquinas High School, and attended La Crosse College pursuing a passion for history. She married the love of her live Joseph Arthur Fleischman on September 6, 1952. Joe was a carpenter and his work had them move to Portage, Wi where their son Joseph was born. In 1954, they moved to Madison where their daughter Paula was born. Rosemary and her family remained in the Madison area the rest of her life.
Rosemary always put her family first. She was a wonderful mother and very close with her two children for her entire adult life. She worked at A&P as a meat wrapper while the children grew and later joined the State of Wisconsin Dept of Industry and Human Relations Unemployment Compensation. She was very active in the AFSCME State Workers Union and served as the Local President for many years. She was also Vice President of the Professional’s Union. Rosemary’s ideas and actions were ahead of her generation. She fought for equal rights, women’s rights and had many young friends she mentored over the years including her daughter.
In her early years. she loved her flower gardens and spent hours after work nurturing the garden. She loved to fish, a hobby she learned from her mother. She and her husband spent many happy hours fishing the lakes and streams in the area. She also loved the Casino. After her husband passed in 2001, she had several special gambling friends and traveled to many different gambling destinations. Rosemary and Joe loved music, dancing, reading, and entertaining. Rosemary was a great gourmet cook.
She is survived by her two children Joseph L and Paula (Bob) Bauer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A Fleischman on Dec 7, 2001.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Cress Funeral Home located at 5801 Highway 51 McFarland WI at 11:00am followed by a committal at the Town of Dunn Burial Ground. Friends and family members are invited to a memorial visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am.
