Rosemary Powers

Rosemary B. Powers, age 85, of Madison, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017. Rosemary was born in Coaldale, Pennsylvania to Francis J. Boyle and Mary Rosalyn McNelis. After her studies at Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland, Rosemary carried on to marry the love of her life, James Francis Powers, Jr.

Rosemary was devoted to her family and the Catholic faith. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage. Throughout her life, Rosemary was socially active and involved in a number of organizations, including: the Red Hat Society, Friendly Sons and Daughters of Saint Patrick, and Little Turtle Country Club's Nine-Holers, where she served as president. Her favorite activities included knitting, bridge, dancing, golf, reading, and being a sports enthusiast.

Rosemary is survived by her sons Jim (Jacquie), Bob (Chantal), and Richard (Laura); daughters Patti and Maureen; grandchildren, Tom (Megan), Tara (Peter), Vita (Jeff), Claire, Dylan, Jamie, Brooke, Lauren, Celia, and Ted; great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Mina Rosemary, Matilda,and Vincent. She is preceded in death by: Francis "Frank" J. Boyle and Mary "Mamie" Rosalyn McNelis (parents), James "Jim" Francis Powers Jr. (husband), Marian L. Sassaman (sister), Alice V. Byrne (sister), Anne J. Anstett (sister)

A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 29th at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 5313 Flad Ave. Madison, WI 53711; a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 A.M. with Father Robert Evenson presiding. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes, Venice, FL.
