Waunakee- Rosina M. Karls, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 29, 1925 the daughter of John H. & Regina (Statz) Maly. Rosina was united in marriage to John M. Karls on October 29, 1946 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Dane. She was a stay at home mom who farmed with her husband for 36 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Waunakee and a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Dane where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society as well as it's bowling league. Additionally, she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and County Homemakers both of Dane. In her spare time Rosina enjoyed baking, cooking, dancing, playing cards, bowling and volunteering at Waunakee Manor and Assisted Living. She is survived by her children, Jerome Karls, Dane, John (Cecille) Karls, Lodi and Karie (Craig) Garfoot, Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Scott (Marsha) Laufenberg, Bowling Green, KY, Craig Laufenberg & Dean (Val) Laufenberg all of Waunakee, Stacy (Brian) Danz, Neenah, John J. Karls, Waunakee, Paige Karls, William Karls, Julia Karls all of Lodi, Jamie Karls, Grafton, Janelle Karls, St. Paul, MN, Jordan Karls, Dane, Melissa Garfoot, Waunakee, Brandon Garfoot and Brittany Garfoot both of Fond du Lac; great-grandchildren, Patrick Molly and Addison Laufenberg; son-in-law, Henry Laufenberg, Waunakee; faithful companion, Elmer Bram; sister, Mildred (Reynold) Theis; brothers, Ray (Elsie) Maly and Andrew Maly; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, her son, Donald in 1969, her daughter, Shirley Laufenberg in 1991, grandson, Justin Powell in 1990 and brother Norbert Maly 1974. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee with Fr. Patrick J. Wendler presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral home and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held in St. Michael's Cemetery, Dane. The family would like to thank her neighbors, friends, Senior Center Volunteers, Senior Care Helpers and most recently HospiceCare for their care and compassion. Memorials would be appreciated to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Hospice Care.
