Roxie Wichman

MADISON - Roxie Ann Wichman, age 74 passed away March 29, 2015 at Artisan Assisted Living and Memory Care in Middleton. The family extends it's gratitude to the kind and caring staff of Artisan II, and the wonderful assistance and companionship provided by the attending staff of Agrace HospiceCare of Fitchburg during her final days.
Roxie was born August 10, 1940, the eldest daughter of Kenneth Bjelde and Alice Engen of Mt. Horeb. She attended Madison West High School, and was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Horeb High School. She went on to Luther College, Decorah, IA, and was a 1963 graduate from St. Barnabus School of Nursing, Minneapolis, MN. She served as an RN at University of Wisconsin Hospital; Wisconsin Children's Treatment Center; and Mendota Mental Health Institute, all of Madison, for a total of 38 years with the State of Wisconsin. In 1990, she traveled with a nursing group to Scotland to discuss mental health issues and treatment procedures in that country.
She is survived by her sister Kay (Tom) Linneman of Burlington, her husband Jim, her daughter Michelle Marie Wichman, her son James Isaac Wichman, and grandchildren Haley Marie Wichman and Alexander James Wichman of Madison.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday May 8, 2015 at CRESS CENTER, 6021 University Ave. Middleton with Rev. Ann Beaty presiding. Refreshments will follow the service at the Cress Center.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Roxie's name to Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
