Madison - Roy E. Tuttle, age 88, passed away peacefully with his wife and family at his side on the 21st of December, 2011. He was born on June 7, 1923, in Santa Rosa, California. He was the son of Oliver Roy and Jeanette (Ronecker) Tuttle. He married Dorothy Marie Hudson on February 1, 1946. After high school, Roy was in the National Youth Administration program at Santa Rosa Junior College where he studied sheet metal work. In 1942 - early 1943, he was a sheet metal worker at Bethlehem Steel in San Francisco, working on US Navy destroyers. He entered Military Service in February 1943 and served in the 15th Air Force in Italy. He rose to the rank of first lieutenant. After discharge, he earned a bachelors, CPA and master's degree at the University of California, Berkley. He then earned the PhD degree at the University of Minnesota. After one year of teaching at the University of Utah in July 1955, he joined the faculty of the School of Business, University of Wisconsin - Madison. He taught accounting related courses for 37 years, during which time he was cofounder of the Consortium for Graduate Study for Management for Minorities. After retiring in 1991, a professor emeritus, he joined his wife in the antique business. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Cathy Tuttle (Mike Corn), Barbara Bauer, and Patty Tuttle (John Hudson); as well as his grandchildren, Michael (Anne) Bauer, Joseph (Cheryl) Bauer and Sara Bauer. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Lorainne Pellegrini; father, Oliver Roy; and mother, Jeanette. A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with the service beginning at 2 p.m. There will be refreshments and time to greet the family following the service at the funeral home.
