Roy Clifton Weatherwax, age 80, passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, August 16, 2024 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born May 31, 1944 the son of Richard and Della (Upham) Weatherwax. Roy graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Ph.D in Accounting and a Minor in Law. He was employed as an Accounting Professor for 45 years with 39 years at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he also served as Chairman. In addition, he taught summers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Roy married the love of his life, Susan, on October 3, 1964. Their relationship was an inspiration to his family. They enjoyed and embraced all that life had together. He was an avid reader, loved music, riding his bicycle, and boating. Most of all, Roy enjoyed spending time with family and friends! The family had their own personal “Roy the Toolman” as he loved any and all types of home improvement. He made a huge impact on his family in so many ways. Roy’s devotion to taking care of his loved ones will never be forgotten. His family will hold him in their hearts forever. “We Love You Roy!”
Roy is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Susan; daughters, Kristine (Adam) Betzwieser and Lisa (Jon) Klug; granddaughters, Ellie Betzwieser and Kelsey Klug; grandson, Kyle Betzwieser; sister, Karen Miller and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, September 13, 2024 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI 53705. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Roy’s name to the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
The family wishes to thank Doctor Michael Goldrosen and Associated Physicians, UW Hospital and Clinics, and all the staff of Agrace for their tenderness and compassion during this tough journey. Thank you for all our wonderful friends, neighbors, and family for their loving support.
