Ruby L Veland Erdman

STOUGHTON-EVANSVILLE-    Ruby L. Veland Erdman, age 88, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at a Madison Hospital. She was born on January 8, 1921 in Cambridge, WI a daughter of the late Olaf and Nelia (Nelson) Selvog. Ruby was first married to Hjalmer Veland, who preceded her in death in 1969 and later married Harold Erdman, who preceded her in death in 2001. Ruby worked at the Stoughton Community Hospital for 22 years retiring in 1972. Over the years Ruby has lived in Stoughton, Evansville, and Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church and the Church Women. Ruby loved to do many things: traveling and visiting with friends and family; she loved doing ceramics and making hardanger; she was an excellent quilter and made many quilts for the family. She was always up to date on current events and would surprise you with her knowledge and interest in sports.
Ruby is survived by: her children, Bernice Veland, Racine, WI; Robert Veland, Stoughton; Bonnie (Dean) Olson, Tavares, FL; Bev Veland, Tavares, FL; a step-daughter, Helen Ailport, Janesville; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 step- grandchildren; and 2 step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and 2 husbands, Ruby was preceded in death by her twin brother and 3 other brothers and by a sister.
A service celebrating Ruby's life will be held  Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00 am at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton with Rev. Mark Petersen officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral on Thursday, January 7, 2001 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service. There will be a lunch at the church following the burial.
