Russell Anderson

Russell G. Anderson, 91 passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at the Waunakee Manor Retirement Center. Russell was born on May 19, 1920, the son of Albert and Alvina (Olday) Anderson. He married Gertrude Statz Zimmerman on May 19, 1956, at St John's Catholic Church in Waunakee and she preceded him in death in 1995. Russell worked for many years at Rayovac until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening in the summer and in the fall walking in the woods looking for hickory nuts and walnuts. He was a lifelong member of St John's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Beverly (John) Ersland of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida; Marvin (Carol) Zimmerman of Lodi; Karen (Bill) Vander Venter of Madison and Port Orange, Florida; Jim (Jill) Zimmerman of Sun Prairie; Judy (Jack) Parrino of St. Augustine, Florida; and Linda (Phil) Fry of Waunakee; two siblings Valeria "Tootsie" Feller of Verona and Dean (Marlene) Anderson of Waterford; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and his sisters Margaret "Babe" (Charles) Bissell and Virginia (Roman) Mimetz.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South St. Waunakee. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
