Russell Ferris

Waunakee - Russell Guy Ferris, age 79, passed away unexpectedly after a long struggle with Parkinson's on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014 at Waunakee Manor.

Born in Rhinelander on April 26th, 1935, he was the son of Clifford and Grace Shea Ferris. Guy graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1953 and the University of Wisconsin School of Business in 1957. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1971. Guy was employed by General Motors Chevrolet in Janesville, WI and Detroit, MI from 1957 until 1965. In 1965 he returned to Wisconsin and was employed by WPS in Madison for 9 years. Guy retired from his position as Controller at Warman International in 1996 after 22 years of service.
His desire to give back to the community resulted in volunteer work with SCORE, American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jan (Lanz), children: Mary Jo (John Fischer) of Castro Valley, CA; Scott (Kathy) of Palatine, IL; and David (Karen) of Waunakee, WI; grandchildren, Ryan and Brad of Palatine, IL; Kayla and Zachary of Waunakee.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Richard and John and sister, Mary Ellen Bartel.

Family and friends may call at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, WI 53711) on Monday, December 29th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Jim Uppena presiding.
