Stoughton - Ruth K. Bakken, age 92, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Skaalen Nursing Home. She was born on March 27, 1924 in Edgerton, Wisc., the daughter of Martin and Emilie (Venske) Lengel. She married Richard Bakken on February 3, 1946 in Edgerton.
Ruth and Richard raised two sons Thomas and Allan. Together they ran a service station in Stoughton. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, dancing, and traveling. Ruth belonged to the Sons of Norway, long time founding member of Good Shepherd by the Lake Lutheran Church, and a volunteer at the Stoughton Hospital.
She is survived by her sons Thomas (Carol) and Allan (Debbie); 2 grandchildren, James (Carlie) Bakken and Rebecca (Mark) Ziety; 5 great grandchildren, Sander, Soren, Silja, Emma, and Carson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Good Shepherd by the Lake Lutheran Church, 1860 US-51, Stoughton. Visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service on Monday. Following the service family and friends are invited to a meal in the church fellowship hall. Ruth will be laid to rest at Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton.
The family would like to thank Delores and Sandy for the love and care they provided Ruth at Skaalen over the years.
