Madison - Ruth Blanch, 93, died at Wynwood West Saturday, January 11, 2014 with her family at her side. She was born in Sumner, Iowa on June 12, 1920 to Leonard and Anna Dienst. She was married to Ray Blanch on September 8, 1940. She moved to Madison in 1953 and was a homemaker for her entire life. Ruth was a charter member of Midvale Community Lutheran Church. She collected angel figurines, loved playing games with her children and grandchildren, was an avid reader and loved sending cards and letters to friends. Ruth is survived by five children, Jean (Larry) Fry of Janesville, June Lange of Fitchburg, Peggy (Larry) Otto of Alabama, Allen Blanch of Monona and Patti (Jeff) Kern of Middleton, 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Blanch, son Roger Blanch, grandsons Alan and James Blanch and brother Albert Dienst. Funeral services will be held at Cress Funeral home, 3610 Speedway Road on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Katie Baardseth officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5 p.m until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agrace Hospice or Midvale Community Lutheran Church.
