Theresa/Madison - Ruth M Burns, previously of Theresa, WI passed away on December 25, 2011. Ruth was born in Theresa on May 5, 1923 to Emma (Ruecker) and Robert Baker. She spent most of her childhood in Dundas, and had many wonderful memories of her time spent there. She attended college at Mount Mary in Milwaukee where she was a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma sorority and graduated with a BA in 1944. She married Jack Burns in October 1946 and they settled in Theresa where they raised 9 children.
Ruth was a parishioner of St Theresa Catholic Church until moving to Madison in 2003, where she was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace.
Her favorite memories were of her college years, vacations spent at Land O'Lakes, her travels abroad and holidays spent with family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Heidi (Marshall) Fields, Jackie (Bob) Burns, Peg (Mike) Rockel, Nancy (Fred) Gants, Tim (Kelly) Burns, Tom (Miriam) Burns, Terese (Jimi) Burns, Erin (Dan) Burns, Nora Burns, 19 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Patt (Norm) Wagner, and brother Bob (Georgie, deceased) Baker.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 405 S. Owen Dr., Madison, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Father William Nolan presiding. A visitation will be held at church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
