MADISON- Ruth E. Grueneberg, ""Pat"" age 85, of Madison, passed on July 6, 2011 at Oak Park Place Assisted Living.
Pat was born July 9, 1925, the daughter of Gilbert and Elsie Marie (Voelker) Greenberg. She grew up in Sun Prairie, WI where she graduated from Sun Prairie High School and went on to work at the S.P. Porcelain Factory and held various retail clerk positions. Pat met and married Jerome Grueneberg from Wausau, WI on July 26, 1947 at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Sun Prairie, WI. She is survived by her children; Lynne Williams, Rick, Jerry (Amy) Vudures, Marti (Scott) Peterson, and her four grandchildren; Jessica (Jamie) Kuenzi, Kylie, Corey, and Jordyn. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome; her son Dean; her brother Donald ""Gibby"" Greenberg; her son in law; Joseph Williams Jr., and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pat was a homemaker and a wonderful, loving wife and mother. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison for 60 years. Pat also started a card club 66 years ago to date, that is still active today with her friends. She bowled on a bowling league for many years.
Visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home - 3325 E. Washington Ave. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and also at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2438 Atwood Ave., Madison, WI with Father Frank Schmidt celebrating. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, with a small memorial service in the chapel. Fellowship and luncheon following service at St. Bernard Church.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at Oak Park Place, Dr. James Shropshire, and Meriter Hospital, Southern Care Hospice staff for giving our mother the best comfort, dignity, and support throughout this difficult time. Thank you also to Jarod Williams at Cress Funeral Home for his caring and professional guidance.
Memorials may be made in Ruth's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MADD- Mother's Against Drunk Drivers.
