Milton/Madison: Ruth E. Lehmann, age 81, of Madison, WI passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 with family by her side.
Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband Dick of nearly 60 years, her parents Jack and Ruth Manogue, her sisters; Aileen (Jack) Burnam, Judy (Frank) Thom, Sally (Doug) Field, Margaret Ahrens, and her brothers John Manogue and Thomas Manogue. Ruth is survived by her three children; daughter Lorrie Lehmann Cruz, and sons Michael Lehmann and Todd Lehmann. She is further survived by four grandchildren; Flow (Austin) Roesch (Blake), Alexis (Chris) DeVall, Tyler Lehmann, and Jamie (Kenna) Lehmann, three great grandchildren; Blake Roesch, Theo DeVall, and Maverick Lehmann, her brother, Bill (Diane) Manogue, brother in law, John Ahrens, and sister in law Genevieve Manogue.
After growing up on the family farm, Ruth migrated to Madison with Dick as her new husband, and state clerical job. Ruth and Dick started a family in a trailer west of the airport, then moving the family to the lifelong home, which she loved dearly, and where she enjoyed her family and friends. Ruth loved all family. Her own and the 46 nieces and nephews, and all those to follow.
Ruth had many interests in her life that included saving Newman’s Pond from destruction (next to her home), and endless birdwatching out all the windows at many feeders. Ruth’s favorite bird has always been the cardinal! The nesting pair of sandhill cranes (of 18 years) would talk and eat for hours. Ruth also loved to travel throughout the state and country, mostly behind Dick on their Goldwing Motorcycle. Ruth enjoyed employment after her children grew. First working with her husband and sons at Klein-Dickert, and then working for WPS for many, many years. A service will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, April 12,, 2023 at Sunset Memory Gardens in the Chapel. Following the service Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband Dick at Sunset Memory Gardens.
