Madison - Ruth S. Pangier, age 76, died on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona. She was born on September 17, 1933 in Madison to parents Sidney and Mary Thompson. Ruth graduated from West High School in 1952 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She was married to Douglas J. Pangier on April 28th, 1956. After living in San Antonio, Texas for two years where Douglas was stationed in the Medical Service Corp, the couple moved back to Madison.  They lived in the Hill Farm area where they raised their two daughters, Liesa and Charlotte.  Ruth was a devoted mother and active in her children's lives.  She was generous with her time and participated in numerous volunteer activities. She cared for all creatures and was an avid supporter of animal rights. All those who knew her, will remember her sense of humor, her wonderful laugh, her kind heart and her loving spirit. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Charlotte, who died of cancer in 2006; and her niece, Nancy.  She is survived by her daughter Liesa (John) Heineman, Lincoln, R.I.; three grandsons, Luke, James and Zachary Heineman; her sister, Jean (John) Liesman; one niece and one nephew. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 12:00 noon at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A special thank you to the excellent staff at Badger Prairie for all their years of care and support.
