Ruth Olivia Richter

Madison--Ruth Olivia Richter, age 95 passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009. Ruth was born on October 17, 1913, the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Jens and Bertha (Herried) Legried. Ruth was born in the Town of Vienna, the eldest of seven children and  raised on a farm in DeForest. She enjoyed socializing, dining in and out, music, church, politics, and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.   Ruth is survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Peterson and Julie Peterson; siblings, LaVerne (Valerie) Legried, Arlene Skindingsrude, and Burnette (David) Olson; sister-in-law, Anna Marie Legried, and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, LaVon Lockwood and Janice Peterson; siblings, Lloyd Legried, Jerome Legried, and Signa Legried; and brother-in-law, Paul Skindingsrude.   Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Avenue, Madison with Pastor Laura Sutherland officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Norway Grove Cemetery, Town of Vienna. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. or Bethel Lutheran Church.   Thanks to Karmenta Center and Meriter Hospital for their kindness and care.   Thank you for you love, care and Christmas fudge.
