Ruth Susan (Zander) Acker, age 92 of Ashton, died peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Cardinal View Senior Living in Middleton. She was born to Frank and Rosina (Nonn) Zander on August 12, 1932 in Pine Bluff.
She married Herbert D. Acker on January 9, 1951 and moved to Ashton where they farmed until his death in 1989. After his death, she babysat for several families, traveled more frequently and continued to serve St. Peter’s Catholic Church working at the Fish Fry’s and beautifying the church with decorations and flowers for the seasons, until retiring. Besides her love for flowers, spending time with family and friends was what she cherished most.
Ruth is survived by; her sons, Ken (Connie) of Waunakee, Mark “Rocky” (Joan) of Cross Plains; and daughter-in-law, Debbie of Middleton; nine grandchildren, Erika (Doug) Kalscheuer, Jeremy, Clint (Chrissy), Melanie (Joel) Knetter, Katie (J.C.) Madorin, Jennifer (Adam) Schmidt, Michelle (Jarrod) Vande Hey, Wesley (Brittany) and Ramsey (Lyndsey) Acker; seventeen great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Logan and Brody Kalscheuer, Chloe Acker, Nolan and Chase Knetter, Elliana and Kolby Madorin, Brayden, Alexis Schmidt, Abigail Vande Hey, Bentley, Anistyn, Crew Acker and Mason, Harvey, Ava Acker. She is further survived by two sisters; Dora (Wilbur “Tex”) Barnett of TX and Mary (Ray) Esser of Verona; and sisters-in-law, Jane Burkholder, Kathy Zander, Angeline Kraemer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents; husband; son, Steve; granddaughter, Stephanie; great-grandsons, Rylan Schmidt and James Vande Hey; her sister, Jane Lewis; brothers, Ted, Linus, and Dennis Zander; in-laws, Armella Endres, Joseph, Ervin, and LaVerne Acker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 7121 County Trunk K, Middleton. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friends may also call at church on Monday from 9:30 until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
