RuthAnn Reed

RuthAnn Reed, age 74, passed away on June 10, 2011. She was born in Shawano, WI to Arlie and Agnes (Zastrow) Steinberg. RuthAnn graduated from Bowler High School in 1955. RuthAnn worked several years at Badger Breeders where she met Vern while doing UW research. They married May 20, 1961, and just celebrated 50 wonderful years together, with friends supporting her in her fight with leukemia. RuthAnn taught piano for 46 years, and played for church services, with 30 years at Madison Christ Scientist Church. She taught Sunday school for 15 yrs, visited South Korea with the Friendship Force, and served on various church boards. RuthAnn has also been very active with a heart recovery group. RuthAnn is survived by her loving husband Vern, daughter Rachelle, Madison, grandson Kyle Borski, granddaughter Brittany Borski, Rhinelander, sister Marj Steinberg, Clarinda IA, uncle Franklin Steinberg, San Jose, CA, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. She is also survived by weekend daughters Karla Macleod, Christa Ball, Neenah, as well as her 20 year old cat ""Freddy."" A foster son Jeff Hamielec preceded her in death. A memorial service celebrating RuthAnn's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 17, 2011 at ORCHARD RIDGE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 1501 Gilbert Rd., Madison,WI 53711, with Rev. Winton Boyd officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:30am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to UW Carbone Cancer Center or Orchard Ridge United Church of Christ.
