Janes, Sadie
Stoughton- Sadie A. Janes, age 94 of Stoughton, passed away at Stoughton Hospital on Saturday, December 20, 2008. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton, born there on January 6, 1914, a daughter of Stener and Ida (Offerdahl) Lewton. On January 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Wilmer Janes in Iowa. Sadie worked as a cook, first at the Wyler School for boys in Evansville, then at several Stoughton restaurants, and retired from the Martin Luther Home. Sadie was a member of the Stoughton Hospital Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church, where she was a member of a circle and the Women of the Church. She liked dancing, cards, bowling and golfing. She and Wilmer enjoyed being snowbirds in Sebring, Florida. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Don) Peterson and Sandy (Dick) BonDurant; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and a brother, Elmer Lewton. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilmer, in January of this year; and by a brother, Arthur. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 11:00 am at Skaalen Chapel, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, with the Rev. James Koza officiating. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona will follow a reception at the Friendship room at Skaalen Home. The family will greet friends at Skaalen from 10:00 am until the time of services. Special thanks to the wonderful and dedicated staff of Unit 5 at Skaalen Home.
