Sally M. Rortvedt

MadisonSally M. Rortvedt passed away at the age of 103 on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the HospiceCare Center, Madison. Sally lived independently until the age of 100. She was born on August 15, 1905 in Highland, WI to Joseph and Mathilda (Lamke) Podhaler.   Sally was a licensed beautician for 40 years, spending 15 years of that time at Busch Beauty Salon on State Street in Madison until retirement in 1970. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison where she donated many of her knitted afghans.   She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, John, Oscar, Elmer, and George; two sisters, Marjorie Marsh and Mildred Rowin; daughter Geraldine Mueller; and son-in-law, John H. Mueller. She is survived by three grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.   Funeral services will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison with the Rev. Allen Wahl officiating. A visitation will be from 4 pm until the time of service.   The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Mary's Care Center for the loving care they provided.
