Madison -- Samuel Namio passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital. Sam was born on September 28, 1924, the son of John and Josephine Namio. Sam married Carolyn Annen on December 7, 1946. He was a loving and caring husband for 57 years. Sam served in the European Theater during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in the Battle of the Bulge. Sam was employed by Madison Newspapers for 30 years and finished his working career with the Veteran's Administration Hospital retiring in 1987. If you knew Sam you had a friend. Sam is survived by his son, John of Madison; step-daughter, Judie Tomcany of Portage; brother, James of Madison; sister, Francis of Madison; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and also Martha Farris (like a daughter). Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn. Friends may greet the family at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Family will have a private burial. The family wishes a very warm thank you to the staff at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in the CCU for their great care and compassion.
