Sandy passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. In hospice care for weeks prior to her death, Sandy passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep.
Sandy was devoted to family and friends, and will be remembered for her indomitable spirit and determination to live life on her own terms. Sandy is survived by her sister Dianne Treichel, brother David Meyr, nieces Dr. Amy Brandt, Tara Treichel, Holly Ernst, and Jessica Meyr, and many, many cousins. Sandy was preceded in death by her father, LCDR Irvin McPherson, parents Herman and Eva Meyr, sister Bonnie Henderson, and nephew Matthew Meyr.
Sandy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 12th, 1950. She spent most of her youth in Madison and Stoughton Wisconsin, and graduated from Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart in Madison WI. Sandy later attended both the University of Wisconsin and Madison Vocational School. An avid lover of animals, she frequently kept cats, skunks and raccoons as pets, and enjoyed riding horses. Sandy was an avid quilter and crafter, and widely recognized for her work. Working for many years for the State of Wisconsin, Sandy also served as a member of the Wisconsin National Guard. While never called up despite serving during the Vietnam War era, she served Honorably and attained the rank of Sergeant.
A celebration of life service will be held at All Saints Senior Residence in Madison, WI on the 26th of October at 4PM.
