Sandra Schehr

March 27, 1957 — February 14, 2015

Madison- Sandra Schehr, age 57, passed away on February 14, 2015, following a year-long battle with cancer.
Sandi was born on March 27, 1957 to Vernon and Patricia Wendel. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1975, and went on to receive her bachelor's degree. She married Roy Schehr on March 5, 2005.
A retired wildlife ecologist, Sandi devoted her life to her love of nature. She had a special affinity for ornithology and botany. Her ever-changing garden was nothing short of masterful filled with tropical flowers, fruit trees, and many varieties of roses.
Sandi also adored the holidays and enjoyed decorating her home to suit the season. Christmas at the Schehr home was a marvel, much to the delight of her doted on grandchildren.
Sandi is survived by her children, Jason Howland, Amanda (Joshua) Kenny, Kyle (Jennifer) Schehr, and Richard (Shelbie Baker) Schehr; her grandchildren Elijah Kenny, Stella Kenny, and Brycen Schehr; her mother Patricia Wendel; her sisters Mary Wendel, Lisa (Jeff) Schultz, Stacy Bremmer, and Diane (Joel Reible) Wendel; her nieces and nephews; her eminently spoiled buddy, Lily; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roy Schehr, and her father, Vernon Wendel.
A celebration of Sandi's life will be held at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, in the Atrium, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, on February 20, 2015 from 5pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center, at www.connect.uwhealth.org/goto/SandraSchehr .
