Sandra "Sandy" J. Stier, age 66, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, with her loving and devoted husband Jeff by her side. Sandy was born February 2, 1945, at Army Station Hospital in Charleston, S.C., the daughter of Benedict and Elayne (Busch) Weyenberg. Following her father's discharge from the U.S. Army after World War II, the family moved back to their hometown of Kimberly, WI. Sandy graduated as valedictorian of her class from Kimberly High School in 1963, and received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1968. While at UW, Sandy met Jeff and they were married on January 23, 1967. Sandy worked throughout the first half of her professional career as a pharmacist in Ann Arbor, MI, Zambia, Africa and Madison, WI. In 1988, Sandy joined It's A Relief Temporary Pharmacists Service, Inc., eventually purchased the company, and served as its President until her passing.
Throughout her life, Sandy's family and their time together were paramount. She and Jeff enjoyed traveling throughout the world extensively together, whether as a couple or with their children and grandchildren. Sandy's unconditional love for her family, contagious sense of humor and passion for cards and other games will be fondly remembered. Sandy was a member of Queen of Peace Parish since 1978.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jeff; their sons Sean (Tracy Bloom) and Eric (Suzette Viernes); cherished grandchildren Tyler, Gabriel and Braeden, all of California; her beloved siblings Tim (Maryanne) Weyenberg, Greenleaf, WI, Mary (Ken) Fries, Winneconne, WI, Jan Engebretson, Minneapolis, MN, and Jean Weyenberg, Kimberly, WI, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Dan in 2008. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 17, 2011 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI 53705. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, WI 53711, with a visitation from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at the Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, or to the Sandra J. Stier Scholarship Fund, c/o the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy.
