Sara Louise Bolz

Madison - Sara Louise Bolz passed away peacefully on June 28, 2011. She was born on January 22, 1962. Her parents were Robert Mayer Bolz and Anne Wilkins Bolz.
An intrepid traveler who traversed the globe multiple times, Sara was known for her generosity, innumerable friendships, laughter, and celebrating life. Whether she was counting cranes in Cuba or Bhutan, rafting the Zambezi River, or spotting penguins in the Antarctic, Sara was loved by all. She was a godmother and special aunt to many children. She was also a skilled photographer, particularly of wildlife.
Sara graduated from Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, MN in '80. She attended Sweet Briar College in VA and finished her degree in retailing at the Univ. of WI-Madison in '84. For 10 years, she worked for Rupert Cornelius at Hilldale Shopping Center in Madison, where she served as a manager and accessories buyer. Subsequently, she joined TravelEase, Inc., where she became friend and business partner with Ben Hutchison. Sara also served for over a decade on the board of the International Crane Foundation, where she worked passionately with fellow board members around the world to save cranes and protect their habitat. Most recently, she served as a volunteer fundraiser for Carbone Cancer Center (Sparkle of Hope Benefit) at the UW-Madison.
Sara is survived by her mother (Anne), her brother (Bob), sister in law (Lynn), nephew (Bob), and nieces (Stephanie, Karley and Katie). She was preceded in death by her father (Robert).
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 9th beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Cress Funeral Home at 3610 Speedway Road in Madison. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m.
