Verona: Sarah Stacey Hartnell, age 61, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She was born November 11,1963 in Chicago the daughter of Weyland and Gloria Ginther.
Sarah graduated in 1981 from Normal Community High School in Normal, IL. She received her BS from Milliken University in 1985, and later her Master’s Degree from Illinois State in 1989. Sarah worked at Bloomington Junior High School as a special education teacher until moving to Coppell, TX, where she continued her teaching career until 2012. Sarah was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Todd Hartnell, and they were married March 21, 2015 in Madison, WI. Sarah was a faithful and active member of Asbury Methodist Church. She enjoyed exploring little towns and attending festivals with Todd. Sarah loved flowers, especially lilies, and she enjoyed gardening.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband Todd, three children; Jessica (Tim) White, Andrea (Tyler) Darden, and Samuel (Celeste) Odorizzi, all of Texas, and stepsons Geoff and Joseph Hartnell of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, Weyland and Gloria (Black) Ginther, and her brother Briggs Ginther.
Arrangements are pending for a celebration of Sarah’s life to be held at Asbury United Methodist Church.
