Sarah "Sally" Sayers Ritter

Sarah “Sally” Ritter passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1951, in Elmhurst, Illinois. 

Sally was a graduate of Southern Illinois University and spent many years as a fun-loving pre-school teacher. She married Duane Ritter in 1978, and she spent 46 years with her husband living in Illinois, Georgia, and Wisconsin.  

Sally enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, gardening, and traveling. She was a prolific artist and skilled in various mediums including sewing, crocheting, painting, scrapbooking, and crafting with paper. Sally beamed with pride when she could create art with her two granddaughters, Minka and Oona.

Sally is survived by her husband Duane; her daughter Brianne Ritter; son-in-law David Wisneski; granddaughters Minka and Oona Wisneski; sister Penny Lavay; Cousin Megan Bond; and many dear friends who shared her life’s journey.  She was preceded in death by her mother Jacqueline Regina Sayers, father James Vaughn Sayers, and brother Steve Sayers.

Sally was an especially loving parent to all her dogs, Sweetpea, Rosie, Chelsea, and Minnie. No dog could have ever asked for a better mother. 

Private services will be held, and the family requests no flowers at this time. 

Sally’s family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Agrace Hospice Care for their comforting care during the last few weeks of Sally’s life.
