Sena Belle Grauvogl

SUN PRAIRIE/STOUGHTON - Sena Belle Grauvogl, age 88, passed away on August 8, 2009 at the Nazareth Health and Rehab Center in Stoughton, WI.   She was born September 11, 1920 in Sauk County, the daughter of William & Matilda (Nolden) Paepke.  She married Donald Grauvogl on May 10, 1938 and together they raised eight children.  The pride that Sena took in the family they raised as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granchildren was reflected back to her in many ways  as each of them were proud to call her Mom and Grandma. Sena demonstrated to family and friends alike that you could find happiness anywhere by embracing your faith, knowing how to laugh and being loyal and true to those you love.  Sena was happiest as a homemaker and caretaker.  Skills she put to good use in the more than 15 years that she was a Resident Manager at the Colonial View Retirement Center in Sun Prairie. Her kind and spirited nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Sena is survived by her children, Gloria Small, Sheila (LeRoy) Bills, Karen (Alan) Salzwedel, Donna Roidt, Gregg Grauvogl, Tammie (David) Smithback, Maria (Randy) Knickmeier and daughter-in-law Patsy Grauvogl; her grandchildren, Todd (Kris) Grauvogl, David (Gina) Small, Lisa (Tim) Peterson, Kurt (Cindy) Bills, Scott Salzwedel, Jason (Deb)Salzwedel, Tracy (Adam) Travis, Jay Smithback and Rachael Knickmeier; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Leona Shinker; and many nieces and nephews. 

Sena was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, son Darel Grauvogl and grandsons Kraig and Kevin Grauvogl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 221 Columbus St., Sun Prairie on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Gerald Healy officiating. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
