Sharon R Gehl (Dunn), age 84, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 21, 2025, at Agrace Hospice Center. She was born on August 2, 1940, in Merrill, WI to Merlin Dunn and Charlotte (Trudeau) Dunn.

After graduating from Divine Savior High School, Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Edwin M. Gehl Jr. on August 22, 1959, at St. Catherine’s Church in Milwaukee. Edwin and Sharon relocated their young family to Madison in 1965, to establish Impala Homes along with Ed’s Father, Edwin Sr and his brother David.

Sharon and her husband Ed worked in tandem to grow their home building business, Impala Homes. Within the business she wore several hats, ranging from Corporate Secretary to Interior Selections Specialist. She was also a very active member of the MABA Women’s Auxiliary and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Sharon and Ed loved to travel, especially to beach destinations such as Aruba, the Bahamas, Spain, Hawaii and Mexico. To that end, they even obtained their pilots licenses. Sharon also loved spending time at the family’s lake condo, playing with her dogs Bailey and Benji and generally spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sharon embraced tradition, especially around the holidays. She loved making her family’s traditional tourtiere and press cookies at Christmas.

Sharon is survived by her loving children, William (Susan) Gehl, Elizabeth (Keith) Prudisch, Barbara (David) Gehl-Bland, Bonnie (Khris) Schubert, and Brenda Gehl; grandchildren, Laryssa, Michael (Sarah), Danny, Gabrielle, Mathew and Jack; great grandchildren, Malakai and Kinsey; sister Judy (Al) Block, other extended family and friends, as well as her loving doggie Benji. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin M Gehl Jr., infant daughter Beverly, father Merlin, mother Charlotte, sister Janice, father-in-law Edwin Sr. and mother-in-law Claudia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Parish 401 S. Owen Drive. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Sharon’s name to Agrace Hospice Center, All Saints Assisted Living & Memory Care or The Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at All Saints Memory Care, Agrace Hospice Care and UW Health for their compassionate care. They also wish to thank family and friends for their prayers and support.

Sharon will be deeply missed, but her spirit and smile will live in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
