Sheila Hanson

Stoughton – Sheila Sue Hanson, age 76, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday Sept 11, 2021, at Skaalen Home in Stoughton.  She was born Oct 10, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids to the late Marvin and Isabel (Olson) Steinke.  Sheila is a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and became an LPN after graduating from St. Catherine’s Nursing School in Kenosha.  Sheila married Richard Nielsen in 1964 which ended in divorce, and later married Larry Hanson on May 1, 1992.   She was an ER nurse for many years in Maquoketa IA, and also a nurse at Skaalen until her retirement.  Sheila loved to play piano, draw, and read, especially loving the smell of a new book.

Sheila is survived by her 2 daughters Judith (Patrick) Duggan, and Jennifer Droester; 5 grandchildren; 2 step daughters; 1 step grandchild; sister Marsha (Peter) Gillis, brother Col. John (Judy) Steinke, Lee (Jim Tucker) Steinke; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Devon Droester.

A private service will be held at a later date.
