And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow, anguish, crying, or pain: for the former order of things has passed away. And he that sat upon the throne, said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:3-5
Sheri Marie (nee Kitchen) Bartz, 52, died at her father’s home on June 30, 2020 following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her devoted family cared for her continuously during her last days before entering her heavenly home, where she was reunited with her beloved Mother, Alice.
Sheri was born December 16, 1967 in Bloomington, Illinois, the firstborn to Ernie and the late Alice (nee Neal) Kitchen. Her family moved to Waunakee, Wisconsin in 1976. She graduated from Waunakee High School in 1986. She spent her freshman year at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, then returned to Wisconsin to finish her nursing degree at UW-Madison. She went to work at UW Hospital as a transplant nurse. She then began a career in home healthcare at Community Living Alliance, then Care Wisconsin. Sheri loved to travel; one of the happiest memories in her life was an African safari with her Dad and sister.
In November, 1997, Sheri’s life changed forever when she became mom to Daniel. She loved everything about being a mom and eagerly welcomed the arrival of Matthew in 2003 and Mark in 2005. Sheri delighted in all the shenanigans that go along with raising boys, and her goofy sense of humor and penchant for bodily functions led to much fun and laughter.
Sheri faced many challenges in her life, but there was one constant: her unwavering love for God and her everlasting faith in Jesus. Sheri's life reflected her Savior’s love as she cared for the people around her. Her tender heart was evident to everyone who met her.
Sheri is survived by her three sons, Daniel Koch, Matthew and Mark Bartz, her father, Ernie (Linda) Kitchen, her sister, Barbara (Jonathan) Ulma and her niece, Elizabeth. Sheri has treasured spending time with Zoe Wiedenbeck, Daniel’s girlfriend. She is further survived by cousins, aunts and uncles and many lifelong friends. A large part of Sheri’s support system was the “playgroup”, which included seven moms and their 25 children, and their many adventures. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Kitchen.
