Shirley Anne Fagan passed away peacefully Tuesday morning September 5th, shortly after celebrating her 88th birthday. Shirley loved parties, made friends easily, and was her fun and witty self ‘til the end.
Shirley was born to Maxwell and Betty (Dennison) Livingston in Sunbury Ohio August 29,1935. Shirley’s mom passed when she was 5 years old, leaving behind Shirley and her younger sister Peggy. Her dad remarried Pauline Crawford and together they had 3 more children, David, Sharma, and Pat.
Shirley moved to Madison where she met Jim. That blind date was the start of a long, beautiful life for the inseparable pair. Jim described his “girl in the green dress” as the sweetest and most beautiful woman he had ever seen, and he was blessed to be married to her.
Together they raised 3 children Susan Clements, (Dan), Patty Ries (Tom) and Mike (Tia). The family loved camping, boating, and trips to Florida. Their love of golf took them to Diamondhead, Mississippi where they wintered and could golf year-round, and giving Shirley the sweet victory of getting a hole in one. They met many new friends and the home became a great vacation spot for the extended family.
Four grandchildren; Katie, Logan, Sam, and McKenna were another bright light in Shirley’s life.
Shirley and her family appreciated the wonderful caregivers at Bright Star Senior Living. A special thanks to Angelica, who loved to pamper her with nail and hair styling. The journey to Heaven for mom was made easier with love and care from the staff at Promedica Hospice as well. Her long-standing friendship with Jane, a Senior Helper, was a highlight in mom’s week. They played many rounds of gin and was proudly called a card shark as she rarely lost.
Mom truly is WOW spelled upside down. We love you so much mama. You lived a long, beautiful life and now you get to see your mom again and be beside your Jim. Heaven became more loving and fun as you were welcomed in.
