Shirley Holford

DEFOREST-Shirley Ann Holford, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Artisan Assisted Living in DeForest surrounded by her family. Shirley "Munka" Holford, known to family and friends, was born in Madison on Dec. 10, 1935, to John and Clara (Fiscus) Grosse. She lived in Madison for a number of years and was employed as a display decorator at various department stores.

Survivors include her three children, Collette (William) Holford-Wienke, Floyd Holford, and Joseph (Sarah) Holford; five grandchildren, Cody, Clint, Nicole, Brandon, and Skylar; a brother, Vernon (Alice) Grosse; and a sister, Lucille (Lowell "Pete") Smith of St Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Marcella Meadowcraft, Petranella "Pat" Muetz, Elizabeth Davis, Jean Derra and Dorthy Gillespie.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Msgr James Gunn will preside. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
