Stoughton- Shirley A. Kalscheur, age 88, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at her home. She was born in Stoughton on May 26, 1935 the daughter of Albert and Luella Kelch.
Shirley was a lifelong Stoughton area resident; she tried Texas for a short period but it was TOO DARN HOT!! She was married to Harlan Steindl, Yancy Fraser, and Bill Kalscheur.
Shirley worked at Carnes Manufacturing Company in Verona for 35 years. She also worked many years as a waitress and bartender in the Dane County Area. Shirley loved to sew, craft, cook, bake, complete word and jigsaw puzzles, play cards, garden and tend to her flowers. She has a gift of gab and loved to coffee clutch at the local Coffee Cup and Sunrise Restaurants. Shirley collected Beanie Babies (too many to count) and had a special spot in her heart for dogs, lastly Abby and Sassy. Her favorite color was lavender.
Shirley is survived by Randy (Lisa) Fraser of Stoughton, Rhonda Hereid Fleming of Texas, Ronald (Chris) Fraser of Texas; grandchildren, Daniel and Alisha Hereid, Corey Fraser, Matthew and Jennifer Carpenter; great grandsons, Preston Hughbanks and Landon Fraser; Sandy Lindemann-Van Galder of Evansville, Darrell Steindl, Vicki Oaks of Edgerton; grandchildren, Ryan, Garrett Lindemann, Ben Van Galder, Jeremie and Jerod Steindl, April Steindl, Chris Oaks; great grandchildren, Marcus, Tristan and Azaria Steindl, Lyle and Maelle Lindemann, Trever, Kayla, Mason, Austin, Bella and Andrew Oaks; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Kalscheur; sons, Harlan Steindl Jr. and Alan Steindl; sisters, Grace Tofte and Lorraine Harezlak; and brother, Ken Kelch.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Shirley’s name to Dane County Humane Society or an animal rescue of the donors choice.
