Sidney L. Schwartz

Sidney L. Schwartz, age 100, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Oakwood Lutheran Homes in Madison.   Sidney was born on May 5, 1908 in Minneapolis.   He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology, and began his career as a Chemical Engineer with Forest Products Laboratory in 1931, where he was employed until 1963.   He was united in marriage in 1934 to Marrian Kasdin in Chicago.   They shared 70 years together. Sidney later went to work for the State of Wisconsin DNR, retiring in 1973.   Sidney is survived by his children; Frede Hammes, Michael Schwartz, and Judith Hamel, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.   A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 14, 2008 at   FOREST   HILL   CEMETERY, 1 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy, Jewish Social Services, Friends of the Arboretum, or the charity of ones choice.    The family would like to thank the staff of Oakwood Lutheran Homes for their loving and compassionate care.
